Kyiv [Ukraine], September 16: More than 30 civilians have been injured in a Russian airstrike on the city of Kharkiv in north-eastern Ukraine, officials said on Sunday.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Telegram a high-rise residential building was hit and that a fire broke out between the 9th and 12th floors. Mayor Ihor Terekhov said 33 people were injured, including several children. Before the all-out invasion ordered by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Kharkiv was the second-largest city in Ukraine with a population of more than 1 million.
At the beginning of the war, Moscow tried to take the city, which is only about 30 kilometres from the border, but failed. Since then, Kharkiv has been one of the most heavily bombarded cities in Ukraine. (DPA)
