Bandar Seri Begawan [Brunei], August 10: Brunei recorded a 409.4 million Brunei dollars (297.1 million U.S. dollars) trade balance in April 2022, up 73.1 percent year-on-year, the latest figures showed Tuesday.
The International Merchandise Trade Statistics released on Tuesday by the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics at the Ministry of Finance and Economy showed that Brunei's exports increased by 71.2 percent yearly to 1,726.0 million Brunei dollars, mainly due to growth in mineral fuel exports.
Mineral fuels also contributed the most to total exports (76.3 percent) with a value of 1,316.9 million Brunei dollars.
Imports increased by 70.6 percent year on year to 1,316.6 million Brunei dollars for April 2022.
The biggest share of exports in April went to Australia (20.1 percent), followed by China (15.6 percent) and Singapore (14.1 percent).
The biggest imports came from Malaysia (21.2 percent), followed by the United Arab Emirates (12.8 percent) and Qatar (12.6 percent). (1 Brunei dollar equals about 0.73 U.S. dollar)
